Disaster can strike without warning and in many forms including deadly storms and hurricanes. In the case of such an emergency you and your pet do not have much time to act. If you receive an order to evacuate you must act quickly and leave as soon as possible with your pets. The main things you will need to pack for your pet’s wellbeing are leashes, collars and ID tags, a secure carrier or crate that is big enough for the pet to stand up and lie down in comfortably, vet records, and enough food, water, and medications if necessary, for you and your pet for several days. If going to an evacuation center be sure that they are accepting pets. Remember never drive through standing water, it could be the demise of you and your pets. Be prepared and you won’t be sorry.
