There’s a lot more going on your dog’s mouth than you think.

There’s a lot more going on your dog’s mouth than you think. Although 42% of pet owners believe that a dog’s mouth is cleaner than a human’s, the truth is that dogs’ mouths are not cleaner. A dog’s mouth contains plenty of germs, along with bacteria that once that helped their undomesticated ancestors break down raw food and prey in the wild. So the notion that approximately 16 million pet owners have that a canine’s saliva can heal human wounds is false. In fact, allowing a dog to lick a cut or scrape can lead to terrible infections. For the 60 % of owners that think it’s okay to let their dog lick their faces, they might want to think again. These people often get sick from bacteria in their pet’s mouth.
