Many patients choose to put a cap or a cover over their toothbrush when they are done using it. Most dental professionals will tell you to do otherwise. Although these caps and toothbrush covers can be good while traveling, keeping dirt and debris away from your brush’s bristles, a covered toothbrush can be bad for your health. A cover on the toothbrush will trap moisture and allow bacteria to grow.
