Often times when we think of attorneys and lawyers we only recall the bad things that individuals in their profession have done. Seldom do people think about how much hard work and determination it actually takes to become an attorney in any state including Ohio and Maryland. First of all, the person who wants to become a lawyer as their chosen occupation must be successful in high school, maintaining a high GPA, good grades, and community involvement. This will help that person to get into a good 4 year program at a college or university. While in their undergraduate program the student must maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 to be considered by any law school. In the junior or senior year of the undergraduate program the student should take the LSAT and apply to their perspective law schools. Then, after graduating with a 4 year college degree, and being accepted by an accredited law school, the student will work hard for the next 3 to 4 years to graduate law school. After graduating from law school, that individual will have to fill out applications, have background checks performed, and pay substantial fees to take the bar examination in the states in which they wish to be licensed to practice law in. Only after passing this intensive 2 to 3 day exam can an attorney legally practice law and give advice within that state.
